This article suggests that Hollywood and TV puts pressure on UKs lowest budget films. In the US the numbers of scripted shows have more than doubled annually since 2010. A number UK films such as T2 and Trainspotting worth from £500,000 to £30million fell from 77 to 60 between 2014 and 2015. This is the lowest number since 2006.

The pressure is being increased by very high budget drama on TV such as Netflix’s £100million pound co-production “The Crown”. With money such as this pre-production is made a lot easier. They are able to pay a large sum of money to be able to rent locations and pay actors. This gives them a large advantage over low budget films.  

Production investment in TV, mostly from US companies such as Amazon and Netflix have almost doubled from £252 million in 2013 to a record £500 million.
