-Low budget film making usually means that you have to make a film with the resources you have. This is called resource film making. -What locations do you have access e.g. your apartment, your local park. -List actors that you are sure would be willing to help you such as friends and family. -Choose someone interested in acting. They will do a better job then someone not interested in acting. -List the equipment you have access to for example your own camera or a camera that a friend wouldn't mind you borrowing. -List the props that you have access to. Does your dad have a rifle from WW2? -Events that happen in your local area that you can use for extras in your film. This is good pre-production value. -Use four or five main locations. -Keep character numbers low. You want to minimize the risk of a character dropping out. -Write roles to the actors strengths. -Avoid scenes were you need extras. -Avoid night scenes. -Location scout long before you start filming. Verify there are no issues with the locations. -Make sure that you know when actors and equipment is available. So there are no problems. -Be selective when you move your camera. The more you move your camera the slower your production process will be. -Have to feed your crew. -You can use magic hour to make your film look nice at any kind of day. -The more post production you do yourself the cheaper its going to be. -Avoid copyright music because it will cost lots of money. -Types of films that tend to look good with low budget film making are horror,comedy and drama films.
