Who carries out research

Who can do/does audience research?
Audience research is usually done by digital marketers and communications.

When should audience research be done?
Audience research should be done before designing the product. This is because you want to be sure what the audience want, what is their preference. If you are to make a product you have to ensure your target audience are interested in that product.

It should also be done for pre-production as your project will need as much information as they can on the target audience in order for the project to succeed.

Why should audience research be complete?
To ensure that your product is as successful as possible. If audience research is not complete there is always a risk  your target audience may not approve of the product.

What research methods can be used?
Quantitative data and Qualitative data can be used.

Quantitative data deals with quantities and numbers, and is easy to measure. This type of data would be useful for statistics as part of an infographic or to show clear graphs of audience behavior.
Qualitative data is in depth analysis into why your audience behaves in such a way. This data can’t be measured as easily, but is incredibly useful as it will give context to a finding.
You can also use surveys or questionnaires to find information. They are quick to to design and can be out to large samples.
